BEHIND THE LENS

 

 

​OPHELIA (Donatella Eveline Pozzobon) was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Swiss in March 1963, hometown of the great Architect, Le Corbusier.
Since she was a child she demonstrates a very high interest in  the use of the cloth. At the age of sixteen she moves in Italy in the province of Treviso for later moving to Venice where she attends at the Art Institute. She gets her degree in 1985 with the specialization in pictorial decoration.
In 1982 she meet the artist Trentin Maurizio  and with him she establishes a very strong artistic creative relationship.
In the 1983, together they found the CREATIVE IMAGES, an experimental laboratory that wants to assemble different artistic perms. Such as music, cinema, videos, painting, graphic and art of the woven. There are some of her activities done in this period:
She participates with PASTA at the production of the stage-designing of the concerts of following rock bands: BLACK FLAG, CIRCLE JERKS,CULT, TALK TALK, SILENT RUNNING, VIRGIN PRUNES, DANCE SOCIETY.
She is called for the realization of the ballet “The Lake of Swans” executed by the BOSTON BALLET and RUDOLF NUREYEV.
In the meantime of these exhibitions, it was very important for Ophelia the experience that she has with in the graphical art  of the woven. The laboratory was in tight  relashionship with various groups, also for scenic realization so that she has the need of enriching her artistic  knowledge proposing the plan of the stage studies for this specific aim.
This experience permitted to Ophelia to spread out the borders of the traditional art putting into the costumes the study of the graphic and the decoration.
When she finished with the CREATIVE IMAGES, Ophelia links herself with the artist sculptor SPATTEN who  runs a Punk dress-shop in Mestre (Venice). There she works specially the leather creating her own models of dresses and hats.
After this experience, Ophelia collaborates in Venice with the atelier NICOLAO, specialized in theater costumes.
She knows therefore a different way of using the woven, she learns few dyeing techniques and all the sartorial secrets that  follow the world of the theater and show.
After a short period, she meets the english bands POISONED ELECTRICK HEADS, WIZARDS OF TWIDDLY, GONG and the drummer player PIP PYLE. With them she establishes a very deep friendship and a solid artistic relationship that stimulate again her creativity.
She starts then in experimenting new techniques in using the woven with new materials.
Always looking for news techniques, she goes on in experimenting new materials and is creating always  more original and peculiar works.
In the 1998 MAURIZIO TRENTIN give birth to a new concept of the visual thinking:“THE CONTRADICTORY ART”. OPHELIA soon became active in that concept.
In the 1999, she take part to the exhibition of Contemporary Art “ROTTAMARE”, in Villa Pisani, Montebelluna (TV).
2000, succesfull exhibition of “Art Contradictoire” at  Marghera (VE).
2002, exhibition at the VI° Biennale of Contemporary Art in Asolo (TV), at  la Fornace .
Regarding Dresses and Art, she is actually working on some news textile experiences: Robes Suspendues (hanging dresses) and "WEAR AS YOU ARE". You can also find her proposal for the home with brilliants textile design on the page:http://www.podze.eu/
